Highland Park is a Scottish whisky distillery that was founded in 1798. It’s located on the Orkney Islands, an archipelago just off of the northern coast of Scotland. The distillery has been owned by Highland Distillers since 1985, who purchased it from a consortium of investors. Highland Park produces three expressions: 12-year, 18-year and 25-year (which are available worldwide). In addition to these core products, Highland Park also offers limited edition expressions (usually 30 or 35 years old) called Valhalla Collection which are only available at auction houses or specialty stores around the world.
Highland Park 12 Year Old
Buy Highland park Whiskey in Germany is a single malt scotch whisky that’s been aged in first-fill bourbon casks. It’s an excellent introduction to Highland Park, which has been making whiskey since 1798 (that’s right: they predate the U.S.).
And because it’s bottled at 46% ABV (90 proof), you can drink it neat or on the rocks without worrying about getting wasted off of one glass.
Highland Park 18 Year Old
The Highland Park 18 year old is the oldest whisky in their lineup. It’s also one of their most expensive, at $1,000 per bottle. The whisky was aged in American oak casks and then finished in European oak sherry butts to give it a bit more complexity and depth.
The color of this whiskey is deep amber with hints of red around the edge; it looks like liquid gold! The nose is sweet with notes of vanilla, honeycomb, orange peel and spice–kinda like Christmas cookies (but without all the fat). The taste has hints of cinnamon mixed with caramelized apples on top of creamy vanilla ice cream; it finishes dry but smooth enough that you could drink it neat without any problem if you wanted to go that route (though we recommend adding water).
Highland Park 25 Year Old
The Highland Park 25 Year Old is the oldest whiskey in Highland Park’s lineup, and it’s also one of their most popular. It has a sweet and smoky flavor that’s reminiscent of old oak casks, with hints of citrus. The whiskey is made from malted barley, wheat and peat smoke–the latter being what gives Highland Park its distinctive taste. Bottled at 40% ABV (or 80 proof), this single malt Scotch whisky is smooth enough to drink straight but complex enough to be enjoyed over ice or mixed into cocktails like The Last Word or an Old Fashioned .
Highland Park 30 Year Old
When you taste the Highland Park 30 Year Old, you’ll be greeted with a light, floral nose and a smooth, creamy taste. It finishes with notes of honey and vanilla. This whiskey is aged in French oak barrels for 30 years before being bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof).
