P Nosa & His Solar Sewing Rover

By admin2 — January 14, 2012

Whilst enjoying some of San Francisco’s fashionable events –particularly IndieMart– we came to meet a very humble and talented dude from AZ, Paul Nosa, sharing his hand-made patch art. Upon asking people to think of a scenario in ’5-words-or-less’, he sews his interpretation on the spot and free-hand.. eh, I mean free-stitch.

But it’s not just his art that impressed us. He was creating these clever threaded pieces of goodness on a contraption he designed and built- the Solar Sewing Rover; a portable table powered by a solar panel connected to a bicycle electric generator. So every once in a while P would get up on his bike and start peddling in order to power his sewing machine. No cords attached!

P Nosa is planning a Spring Sewing Tour 2012 to share his invention and art with the public, but he needs our help. Starting in his hometown of Tucson, Arizona- the tour will follow cities along the West Coast including: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, then Eastward to Chicago, Pittsburgh, Boston, New York, and Washington D.C.. The tour will last from May to October 2012.

By supporting this project, you will be helping with Paul’s travel costs to drive around the country. Those who donate will also receive a piece of his Art. With your pledge, you will be helping people use their imaginations, understand how to use solar energy, and build bicycle electric generators.  With ten days left to fund every amount counts- even $1!

Oh! And here’s what he created for us- inspiration: “Universe”.
